i have had her for two classes now and found that if you do the readings and actually pay attention in class you will do fine. She actually says in class "you should write this down". So it is beneficial to go to all the classes. Overall she is a great instructor and very enthusiastic.

She is a really good professor. Lots of stupid YouTube songs that relate to what you are learning though. We had to read a book that she co-authored and it was pretty painful. If you need help go to her office and she can really sort things out for you.

Class:Honors: Historical Foundations (A)

This is an honors course, so you should expect to put some work in. The quizzes are easy, if you read the chapters. The Midterm and final are not bad if you prepare - multiple choice and essay portions. The main part of the grade is the paper. This will take some work and effort. Start early and stay ahead of the schedule and you will be fine. Do not be surprised if you are working over the holiday break finishing the paper - but then again, the effort is needed if you want a good grade. Overall, the professor is really passionate about her field. She expects everyone to be as excited and, in some cases, that can be contagious.

Professor Senecal seems weird at first but is actually easy to understand and get along with. If you regularly attend her classes and actually put EFFORT into listening to what she has to say, she can make history really fun and entertaining. She'll regularly give quizzes, but these quizzes are cake if you've actually PAID ATTENTION in class and not missed 4 classes and expect some magic to help you then you'll be good. Oh, and do the readings. They're actually interesting.

As long as you aren't lazy, Senecal is an amazing professor to take. She has a full work load, but quizzes and tests are easy if you are willing to put in the work. She is easy to listen to and tries to keep everyone involved. She is a GREAT professor.

Dr. Senecal is by far the best history professor there is! She makes it fun to learn. If you don't know how to take notes from just a lecture, I wouldn't recommend her. There are some 2 page papers due on readings and has 2 tests. They are essay format and she gives you some credit as long as she can tell you have an idea of what you are talking about. Take her if you have the chance!

Dr. Senecal is probably the nicest, happiest person I ever met. You can immediately tell that she loves her job and is happy to be around her students. She's an easy person to talk to and doesn't make her world history classes difficult either. There aren't that many graded opportunities in her class so you HAVE to try your best on every paper/test. Participation and attendance are also HUGE so make you can take advantage of those points. Her papers are not difficult to write but midterms and finals do require a lot of study. But they are fair in that she asks you questions that you would expect, not ridiculous questions like some profs like to use. I highly recommend Dr. S for any major since she is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always enjoyed history. But with Dr. Senecal, I loved it. She really knows what she is talking about and gives very thorough notes. As long as you pay attention in class and take the notes, you will do well. I hardly studied at all for both the midterm and the final and even when I forgot to study for the in-class essays I still did well. Everything is graded on a small scale so you have to do well with the points that you have because if you don't it will really hurt you, but overall I learned a lot from her!

At the beginning of this class I was somewhat frustrated by her style of teaching and lecturing. You have to get used to knowing what is important in her lectures and what is simply a tangent. Give her a chance and you will find that, if you pay attention to her lectures, you will definitely pick up the important points because she stresses them so much. The tangents that she goes on are usually very interesting. I enjoyed the lectures because she went on so many tangents that weren't part of her tests so I could actually learn without a lot of pressure. She had a great personality and is willing to help, though her office hours are limited.

She's a great professor almost no matter to whom you speak. She knows an incredible amount about her subject and feels an intense passion for the learning of history. Her exams are not difficult for those who study or have an aptitude for history, but they do force you to learn the material through and through. She is a total leftist politically, but she does a good job of not injecting that into her classes, and if she slips, she will audibly correct herself. Overall, she's excellent and I cannot wait for the next class.

I loved Dr. Senecal! She was so bubbly and enthusiastic about the subject, which was catching, even if I already loved history. The readings were lengthy, but interesting, and the reading responses were easy grades. You will learn everything and more than you ever wanted to know about women in the history of the world, but it still was a great class, and she was an amazing professor. Actually, I have her again this semester, and I’m scheduling to take another one of her classes next fall. By far the best professor I’ve had.

Dr Senecal was a great teacher who kept her students interested in very boring topics. I did, however purchase the text book for the class and never opened it once (i guess thats why I only got a B and not an A), but if you just need to get by and dont want to go the extra mile, dont bother paying for the text book, its not necessary.

She is such a good prof. You can tell she is really into what she is teaching. She likes it if you speak up in the class but if she calls on you and you don't know the answer it's not a big deal. Make sure you actually read the books because the final paper is on them. Tests are all essay but if you pay attention in class (which isn't hard becuse it is actually interesting) and study you will do fine! And if ever you don't understand something or zoned out and missed some notes, see her after class and she will be more than willing to help you out. I would love to have her again for world history II but I wasn't that lucky. So, all of you they have the oppurtunity to take her, do it!

She really cares about her students and offers extra credit. She makes class really interesting through our discussions and picks great novels for us to read and discuss.  Okay... I did fail the class but by my fault only. Dr. Senecal is a great Prof and she trys to work with the students. To be honest the only reason that I failed the class was because I never showed up Fridays to take the weekly quizzes, but when I did they were really easy. I'd advise you to show up everyday that you can because she gives awesome notes in class, and MAKE SURE YOU SHOW UP FRIDAYS!! 1 paper - make sure you cite info, and 2 tests and a mini test that are all essay form and very easy.... Take Her If You Can!!!

Professor Senecal is an incredible lady and a great teacher. Who can't love a teacher who loves her job and is enthuised to answer any questions you might have. The only thing she ever did that I didn't like was if she asks a question she doesn't let the same people answer and if you aren't answering the question right she just says, "Thats not the answer I was really looking for" Essay tests...but she gives you the question ahead of time...

I do not like history but Dr. Senecal made it enjoyable and interesting. She lectures just about every class as well as shows slides of certain concepts she wants us to understand. Once a week, or just about, she gives a reading assignment and then 2 days later she gives a short quiz on what you have read. These is nothing too difficult unless you didn't do the reading. Dr. Senecal is very cheerful and wants to know what's going on with her students. She is always there to help as long as you ask. Over all this was a pretty decent class.

Go to study groups or even form your own with friends, take notes and you will do great. She loves interaction, so speak up and ask questions. better yet if you don't agree with something tell her. like she says Question your professors, don't just take what they say as the truth. She is just so loving, and full of life. I got an A both times and i hated history and sucked at essays. btw...do an outline for the essays before you write them. they really help.

Senecal is TERRIBLE. I'm sure she might be nice if you never sat in her class before, but as a teacher, she is boring and annoying. Every minute of that class dragged by. She makes stupid jokes all the time and plays random music she finds online which is TERRIBLE. Her class is kinda hard, she has too many books to read, and I think she is a feminist. She co-wrote her "envisioning women in world history" book which is the most boring piece of crap I have ever read. Some of the History she teaches is not worth learning while I'll admit most of it is good history stuff. She didn't make me like history at all though, in fact she made me hate it worse. She always smiles too and that gets old fast. Every emotion for her is a smile, which isn't a good thing in certain situations. Overall, I would have been happier with probably any other History teacher.

She is so crazy. All you learn about in her class is women in different tribes from forever ago and different civilizations. Her tests are dumb and hard. She's very feminist. She has her favorites.  I have to say that she is not THAT bad. She is bad at teaching though. This is one of those classes where if you only need it for gen. eds. you should avoid it. I would suggest going for Dietrich-Ward or someone else. This is a somewhat heavy reading based class which for someone like me is hell.

Dr. Senecal is a really nice lady but there is sooo much work to do. Every week she assigns at LEAST 25 pages of online text that you have to look up and answer approximately 6 questions on. Then on fridays, she will pick one of the questions for a quiz and make you write an essay on it. This is on top of readings out of the book as well as novels that she assigns in class. You have to be there every friday in order to take the quiz and if you skip a class, you feel like you're lost because she goes over so much material. It feels like this is not a gen. ed. class.

Dr. Senecal is a real nice lady, but sometimes I cannot tell if it is fake or not. She comes into class everyday and talks to you like you are 2. I mean come on, we are in college here, not 2nd grade. The class is also quite boring. I can't follow the way she teaches, it just bothers me. We never get done what we are supposed to, because she gets off topic.

Dr. Senecal is really a great professor. She is definitely excited about the subject, but it can be a drain if you can't stand to read tons of material that won't ever be acknowledged in class or on a test. The course consists of weekly discussion questions, a map quiz, two midterms, a 4-5 page paper, and a non-cumulaive final exam. Tests are all essay format. Also, if you're smart, you'll use www.sparknotes.com to breeze through the "Aenied"
