He assigns long readings for every class and occasionally throws in a pop quiz. As long as you do your readings, take notes, and try a little you will do well in this class. He clearly outlines any assignments and he gives very detailed study guides for each exam. He is definitely a history nerd, but that's what makes him such a great history professor!

You have readings due every class period. Just read what you are assigned and take notes on the readings and you'll do fine. He gives you all of the information and tools you need to excel in class and if you actually try you'll do well.
Professor Ulrich teaches in a very effective "story-telling" way that makes history feel organic and interesting. He is extremely knowledgeable and thoroughly answers all questions or curiosities one might have. I have learned so much about world history and I love how he focuses less on dates and statistics and more about the general trends and developments of world history.

Dr. Ulrich has a passion for history and it's obvious that he wants everyone else to also! His class is really easy, just make sure you do the reading because he'll give out a pop quiz every once in awhile. These usually only consist of 5 facts you learn from the reading. He gave my class three tests, one of them being the final but he told us exactly what was going to be on each one. He teaches from powerpoints a lot too which I found very helpful! I really recommend him, especially if you want to learn something!

Dr. Ulrich is an amazing professor. He throws you off from the start with his difficult wordings on exams and essay questions. His handwriting is not to good as well but who really cares. His lectures are captivating and easy to follow IF YOU READ THE ASSIGNED READINGS! He grades moderately difficult but if your responses are clear and concise then you will not have a problem. He uses references a lot in class that you will only be able to understand if you read or watch Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. TAKE HIM!!!

I hate history but with him its not that bad. You copy notes in class from ppt. Study for the exams and they're not bad cause he tells you all the possibilities that could be on there. I think we did 2 papers also but he is an easy grader.

He is a very good professor. His tests are easy if you study. I know that there might be a lot of reading to do but its easy stuff. His discussions can be boring but if you contribute to the discussion it could be fun. His final is really easy if you STUDY. Overall a good guy

Has a good teaching style and relates the material to things people know like harry potter and star trek to name a few. He is the man and he requires a decent bit out of his tests but he gives you a study guide that covers everything

Dr Ulrich is a nice guy and everything ,however he way to fast then have us like what???. Secondly his test are way too much to study for. Taking this class is like spending years in prison. For a freshmen that class is to much to handle I wouldn't recommend that class. I mean if your a genius feel free.

My major was originally History until I had this teacher. He is probably the worst professor I've ever had. His class is extremely boring. If you word something differently than what he thinks, you are automatically wrong. His exams are hard and his essays are too. All he does is lecture throughout his classes.

He does not use understandable vocabulary. He expects you to understand everything he is talking about. I would have to go to tutoring to just understand his questions. His class would be easy if he spoke like a normal person, but he doesn't. He makes everything 10 times harder then it needs to be, and on top of everything he wants to make you memorize its a lot. The final was cumulative and he has high grading expectations with paragraphs and essays. He also never ever ever will cancel class.

Out of all of my professors here at Ship Prof. Ulrich by far is the worst one I had. I am not a big fan of history as it is, so I tried even harder to pay attention and by even doing so I still had a hard time grasping the concepts. During this semester my roommate who is a history major had a WIFYS class and I had more papers to write than my roommate! I also had talked to my roommate for some help on the subjects being that hes a history major, and my roommate even agreed that this professor didn't know what he was talking about at times. Bottom line, do not take him!

I hated professor Ulrich. He makes you feel like a complete dumbass. He will call on you when he KNOWS that you are not paying attention. And when you do not know the answer, he makes you feel even more dumb. His wording of his papers and exams was extremely difficult. You would need to study for hours to receive a good grade. I would never ever take professor Ulrich again.

In the beginning of the semester, I had a hard time focusing because of the way he talked. After I got used to it, I realize his classes are pretty easy. He does want specific dates remembered for tests but he will give you a study guide a few weeks before the exam. All his power points are online and can easily be printed before class but when he goes over them in class, he rushes through them so I suggest printing them out before hand and listening to what he says during class. He makes jokes that he thinks are funny and the class might now but I understand them and I think he does try to encourage the class to laugh and communicate. I am taking him again next semester.

Dr Ulrich is a great teacher once you get used to his style. His language is very difficult to understand at times and he is primarily a middle east professor. He focuses on that and will occasionally use analogies that are difficult to understand unless you have seen Star Wars and Harry Potter. He gives pop quizzes which are not difficult if you do the assigned homework. Occasional worksheets and extra credit. His tests are hard, but he gives a study guide which basically gives you the test criteria. It is just a lot of material and I always found myself in the library. Overall, he is a good teacher just a little confusing sometimes.
